Low budget production techniques do create extra post-production work, and proper logging notes from the shoot are rarely available.
Narration and location dialogue will always benefit from some kind of treatment (to reduce unwanted background and control dynamics) and music and effects should wrap around the foreground without becoming distractive.
Graphic elements need to be created and composited and the whole thing needs to be colour graded.
All this takes a very long time, but it can be fun.
